Measurements that changed the questions
Cassini investigated Saturn and its moons using remote observations and measurements of particles and gases. Sampling the Enceladus plume gave researchers a way to investigate material associated with a hidden ocean.
Instrument results and interpretation
Measurements must be interpreted through instrument calibration, chemistry and models of transport from the ocean into the plume. A detected chemical ingredient does not have a uniquely biological origin.
