SETI investigates whether observations contain evidence of technology beyond Earth. Searches can focus on narrowband radio signals or other potentially detectable technological effects.
Candidates need verification
The Wow! signal and BLC1 illustrate different outcomes: an unresolved observation in one cited account, and a candidate attributed to interference in a detailed published analysis. Neither label should be generalized to every signal.
